VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

Black Sabbath: Sweet leaf-With Lyrics: https://youtu.be/e3Ukd74TmeA

This is one of my favourite songs and my issues are right there in the words. It's got rescuer, helper, codependency written all over it.

At age 13 (48 now),  and not understanding the meaning,  I originally thought... .Aww, he loves her. Sweet leaf was (dare I say it) his soulmate, love of his life.  She (Sweet leaf)  rescued him.  I was gutted when a few years later I was eventually informed that She (Sweet leaf)  was actually Cannabis.  Gutted. Obviously I wasn't a very streetwise kid.

I accepted and yes... . mourned the reality of the song, unfortunately still not making a connection with my issues.  It has to be noted - the album is called 'Master of reality.' It took the experience with my ex and finding this site for me to be able to step back and take a long hard look at myself.  I needed to stop looking outwards and look inwards for positive mental health.

It's still one of my favourite tracks... .all these years later!  I now listen to it with a smile on my face.  I've grown with it and see personal growth in it. Sweet leaf and myself have a past, present and future.
