It's National Siblings Day... Sigh

So am I the only one that has a pang of jealousy while on FB or other social media which today is showcasing everyone's perfect sibling relationships? I've always envied people with a great relationship with their brother or sister and today just makes it hard. I am happy for all of them though, just jealous. I know I could just stay off FB for the day, but I always feel this way when ever I see someone's awesome family pictures of great times with extended families and wonder why mine has to be so messed up.

Same boat here, SisterofBPD. I'm staying off of FB, just in case. Don't want to trigger that jealousy.

I actually called my god mother and cried about it earlier. I am one of 5. We are all disordered in our own ways (me included). I can't stand to be around them. I minimize my contact. It is so sad. So painful to be alone. But that is the way it is and will always be for me.
One of my oldest friends lives near one of my siblings. Her mother goes to church with this sibling and his wife and kids. My friend for YEARS has kept her mouth shut about that person being my sibling. Her mom finally made the connect a few months ago. There result was horror. Her mom felt so bad for me. I was embarrassed. I can not be a real part of their lives. It is so sad.
So I am spending my evening raking leaves (and crying) as I have been super discouraged lately. So yes sibling day sucks for some of us. You are not alone.

I felt the same way! You're not alone.
It's just that the people who don't have great sibling relationships don't post anything, so the FB feeds are overwhelmingly positive and triggering to those of us who have less-than-stellar (that's putting it lightly!) sibling relationships.

Fathers day used to really bother me but I notice that now i don't even find myself aware that it is going by. Sibling day is still raw for me. Hopefully I can find some peace and new friendships to help enrich my life.
