Happy new year!

This year I resolve to live for myself and to live and dream big. I resolve to love myself and to live the life I want. I resolve to be a good daughter, to hold my tongue when appropriate, and to accept that my mother will never be the loving and consistent woman I wish she was - which is ok, because I will continue to surround myself with people who make me happy and with whom I can have a mutual relationship with.

I resolve to be happy.

What is your New Years resolution?

Hi GreenGilt!

Happy New Year to you too! I love your resolution.

I don't do resolutions per se, but I will say that my objective hasn't changed: I want to be the best possible version of myself. Balance my many roles (wife, mom, daughter, friend, employee, boss, etc) and focus on the things that are truly important. Let go of things that aren't helpful and be empathetic to others and respectful of their personal journeys.

Hi Greenlit

Happy New Year to you too!

Acceptance is very important indeed so I think you definitely have a very good New Year's resolution. Like GeekyGirl I don't really do resolutions either, just that I am committed to keep working on my healing, letting go of the past and applying the tools and lessons in my daily life, not just with my disordered family-members but where ever I go and who ever I am dealing with. The tools and lessons are helpful in many situations.

Take care

I like resolutions. I see the New Year as a reset. I take the opportunity at the end of the year to make an account of how I'm doing. I'm usually tired and frazzled at work because it's crazy this time of year, tired and frazzled at home with holiday decorations, cooking, entertaining and tired and frazzled emotionally with the family dysfunction that happens around the holidays. Which means I'm not sleeping/eating/exercising well or taking care of myself as well as I could. I go through ups and downs all year long, but the end of the year is always hard! So I'm especially motivated to get back on track this time of year and the momentum pushes me forward.

My big resolution this year is to do LESS. Be a human being, not a human doing. Open up some time in my schedule to take care of me in that space.  I want more experiences than things. I want to continue to expand on my support network. Spend more time with the people that matter and do a little wedding here and there. And get back to self care--good sleep, less caffeine/alcohol, more exercise and water, good food, less tv/screen time and more time with people who love and understand me.
