To everyone struggling to break free from the nightmare ... I hope this helps.

Difficult, I know, but it often helps to regain and reclaim your sense of humour ... .with the forums chocoblock full of awful, awful experiences of lies, cheating, betrayal and, in some cases violence ... a little bit of humour helps the medicine go down.

National Lampoon released a film called 'Animal House' ... many, many years ago now ...

One of the scenes in the film portrayed a ritual that pledges had to endure to be accepted into a fraternity ... one of the fraternities (full of egoic, entitled frat brats) required the pledges to bend over and be hit with a stick ... once hit, the pledge was required to say, 'Thank you Sir ... may I have another'.

Quite sick ... wouldn't you agree?

My point is this ... everytime the person who has abused you reaches out to you after they have so horribly discarded you and then made you feel responsible for their despicable treatment of you ... and you answer ... that is what they are hearing ...

They hear you saying, 'Thank you for this terrible treatment ... let me offer you myself again on your alter of abuse ... so, once again ... you can hurt me'.

So, the next time they reach out to you ... think of this ... watch the film (because it is hilariously funny and will lift your spirits) and remember how bloody awful they've been to you and what thoroughly unsavoury people they are.

And then make a promise to yourself ... that this time ... you will go No Contact for good ... disappear completely from their lives and go on to reclaim the terrific person you are.
