But after my post about my uBPDgf's various illnesses yesterday and whether she exaggerates them or not, last night she turned on me about a couple of sporting injures I've had.

Apparently I've made a 'miraculous' recovery from a bad back I had three weeks ago as if I'd really had a bad back there's no way I'd be fit to play sport again now.  I'd made a really big deal about how bad my back was.  I asked how I'd made a big deal of it 'Well you were late back from work as you had to go and buy some ibuprofen.'  As far as I can remember telling her I was going to be late was the first time I'd mentioned my back hurting but it was pretty bad for 2-3 days. Obviously I'd been 'lying about how bad it was.'

Similarly, I went to the doctors last week for the first time in about 12 months.  This was about a recurring knee problem I have.  I've got to admit that as it wasn't playing up at the time I was unsure whether to cancel or not but I thought as I'd booked the appointment I'd go and see what he said.  Basically I want to know whether the sport I play is doing further damage and I should change sports or whether I should carry on.  Apparently 'I'm wasting the NHS's money by booking an appointment that I don't need as I'm still playing the sport at present and if it was bad enough that I need a doctors appointment I wouldn't be playing sport at the moment.  The NHS would be better spending money on cancer treatments that could have saved her father.'  That was a really low blow.

I'm not really sure what brought this all on, she'd been drinking and watching a sad program on TV but it all started when she asked what time I was playing my sport this week.  I tried to stop the conversation, probably left it too late, she wouldn't stop and followed me all around the house so eventually I walked out for an hour.  I then get accused of walking out on the kids which she'd never do.

Hi yaffle,

Does she give you a hard time about playing your sport... .time away from her and family?

What pre stated boundary do you have to provide you with "space" to not engage in arguing?
