Any help from people who owned a business w BPD spouse and left - please help

Just as title states please share your experience I need help gagging how to possibly leave BPD husband and we own a business together. I am sole proprietor. Business is created off of my abilities/talents. We have commitments up until November.

When you say "I am sole proprietor" does that mean the business is in your name?

I left my first husband and managed to keep our business that I was running from our farm.  It was a partnership on paper, but I did most of the actual work.  He was abusive.  I caught up as many orders as I could then left and got an order of protection and went to a battered women's shelter.  It was 2 long weeks until we went before the judge, but he awarded me temporary residency in the house and the business.  I ended up getting the business when our divorce was final because of the awful things he did during the divorce like not paying child support and calling all our customers and bad mouthing me.

It was a very hard time, but worked out OK in the end.  I had friends in the industry who helped me out and my customers were amazing.  Some of them had been with me for 20 years and they were very supportive and patient.  It would have been awful to lose my business, but would have been worth it to get myself and my children out of an abusive situation.  Too bad I got right back into another abusive relationship and ended up losing my business anyway!

Not sure if that helped, but in the end, your health and sanity is the most important thing.  I know it would be hard and awful, but you can rebuild a business if you have to.  You did it once so you can do it again!

Like Hanging says, please share more details and I am sure we can be more helpful and definitely supportive.

Can you hire someone to pick up the slack then?

It's really not as simple as all that. He's a both physical help and mind power help. We both have been in our industry for 16 years each. To train someone at our level is not a over night thing. I have young people who want to intern for me, but again that's more work than help. He has a job that pays out bills since our business makes profit but not enough to cover things we have to plan for financially. It is doing very well, but the first 3 years the money just goes back into building itself. Hard to explain the complexities with remaining anonymous like we are told to do on here. As far as occupation goes. And then the hiring of other people then need insurance covering equals more money.

So how do you plan to extricate yourself from the personal relationship while still maintaining the business relationship?  Maybe work independently but together?

Oh we will not be working together. I will dissolve the business and restart it or keep it going part time. There will be no contact after I decided to leave.
