Hi everyone,

Been a lurker for a while and sorry to introduce myself in this way but I really need some help.

My BPD (wife) has used my telephone to create a facebook page put a picture of me as the profile and list it with my name. Because she has used my telephone she has gained access to all my contacts on my phone that are also listed ln facebook. She is now emailing all these contacts on facebook from an account that appears to all intents and purposes to be from me.

Please help is there anything I can do to get the page down / unlink my phone / block her messaging people.  Im really panicking as she will be messaging all sorts of horrible things.

Hey there Jimd1000

Welcome

Can you contact FB directly and advise that an account in your name has been opened under false pretenses? You can report an impostor account - just google "report an impostor Facebook account" and you will get to a form.

Can you contact all your contacts to ask them to remove / block your apparent FB account and disregard any messages from there as you've been hacked?

I hope you are finding the forums useful and helpful to you. Feel free to post more of your story so that members can engage with you and help, as you will surely help others.

Take care,
VitaminC

Hi Vitamin C

I have just reported it as an imposter account as you suggested thanks.  Does anyone know how long it normally takes for such accounts to be taken down ?

Unfortunately i dont have details of all the contacts as it seemingly links my phone to everyone I have ever exchanged a text with.  The BPD is now taking great glee in going through the list pretending to be to try to extract information from people.

I feel like im in a horror film with no way out.

Why are they so so sadistic.

How about breaking the link to your phone?  That should be an option on FB and/or your phone.  Perhaps they also allow you to specify what computer is allowed to log into your account?  I don't use FB so I wouldn't know.

Worse case scenario would be to change your number.

Unfortunately folks when she created the account she instantly managed to gain access to all the contacts on my telephone.  She has already started messaging people from the account which presents itself as me so im completely stuck - ive reported it to facebook and begged for them to take it down and even tried to call them in the US (im in europe) but no answer.

The idea that she is impersonating me to people and saying things is so horrible.

Tonight i finally know that she really is out to destory me and break my life apart.

Hi Jimd1000
I had this happen to me a while back after my estranged wife created a fake Facebook account in my name.
I contacted Facebook and I believe they removed the account within a week.

Perhaps you can put a public post on your real account explaining that "someone" has opened a false account in your name and to please report any contact from it to Facebook. If you send that as a message to your contact list it may generate a bunch of complaints to Facebook and get the fake account removed sooner. I don't know but its all I can think of.  Good luck and keep us posted on what happens.
