Help!

We feel like we have tried everything... .inpatient, outpatient, etc. and nothing seems to work. Our male family member has only become more despondent, depressed, rages, etc.

We are looking for any recommendations in the nyc area- ideally intensive outpatient*, a therapist highly trained in BPD, any further leads for anything someone may have tried that may have helped their family member even in the slightest way.

* (we have tried columbia/cornell & second arc)

Hi BPDfrere77,

Welcome to  bpdfamily, the circumstances that have brought you here aren't very pleasant though.

Your profile says the person in your live is a sibling and based on your post I assume it is your brother, is that correct?

I am sorry to hear your family-member is exhibiting this troubling behavior. It definitely isn't easy seeing a loved one struggle like this.

If you haven't tried it already, you could use the Psychology Today site to search for therapists and support groups:
https://therapists.psychologytoday.com/

If I find anymore resources in your area I will let you know.

We cannot change our BPD family-members, but what we can do is change the way we respond to and interact with them. There are several tools that can be very helpful such as S.E.T. and D.E.A.R.M.A.N., are you familiar with these techniques?

you would think in the NYC area there would be more resources!
We wound up taking my 16 year old daughter to the Boston area for inpatient treatment

have you checked with BPD central? or in NYC Valarie Parr runs TARA. Their website is tara4BPD.com. She has workshops and seminars frequently.

There is hope - please keep trying and take care of yourself
