My SO has moved back into the house.  She checked herself out of the hospital due to our daughter developing a psychosomatic coughing tic related to Mom being absent for two months.  She is going to out patient counseling all day once (or twice) a week.  Her doctor contacted me

Good luck with this new stage!

You're doing a great job with the kids and trying to keep it all together. How's the conversation with the doctor? I wish it was more common to work doctors and families together.

Keep it up!

so hard on the poor kiddos... .   Great news about the counseling!  I think that's huge!  My BPDh doesn't even acknowledge his disorder, so I have high hopes for you!   Keep on keeping on!  And hug that little girl a LOT.  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)

JoeB,

So far i'm only talking to my wife's GP who has seen her paperwork from her hospitalization.  I'd like to be able to talk to the therapist working with my wife... .gotta move slowly on this.  Her doctor thinks she still needs to be in the in-patient... .and I agree... .it just needs to be done differently.  I think it should be done without home visits, but my wife should put me and the kids on the visitor list so we can come to see her often.

I want to sit down with my wife and discuss her diagnosis.  No one is calling it BPD... .just a personality disorder... .but the diagnostic criteria cited is for that of BPD.  I want to see if she understands how serious this is... .and encourage her to return to the hospital.

It is hard when you see clearly what's gonna help enormously your loved one, and you know it's gonna be taken as a theat/rejection/big fear... .And you don't know when or how you can bring it up. I trust you can do it, you seem you've thought things trough.

Good luck, mate!
