Exiting from a relationship with a partner showing BPD traits

hello everyone. This is a first post. I recently ended a 15 month relationship with a partner showing BPD traits - not diagnosed. I've been in therapy for almost 3 years on my own journey - I have always found relationships uncomfortable and unsuccessful and never understood why and what was wrong with me. My therapist has helped me to unpick everything and I am now in recovery and healing. I am 61 now. I have tried throughout my life to sort it all out through counselling but my current therapist is the only person who has cracked the code, finally. She is brilliant. I am fortunate to have this kind of personalised support. I am reprogramming myself from unhealthy default settings into a healthy way of being. This website has been so invaluable to me at times enabling me to understand my own and my ex partner's behaviour. You are never too old and it's never too late.

Hey Salvia, Welcome! You've come to a great place. I'm glad to hear that you have found a skilled T who you can trust. How is your recovery going? Ending a r/s with a pwBPD can be extremely challenging, yet you seem to be well on your way towards healing. Do you have any particular questions? Feel free to fill us in, if you get a chance.

Hi Salvia,
I'd like to join LJ in welcoming you to the board. It's great to hear what you say about never being too old and things never being too late. Thanks for sharing. It's inspiring to hear how you never gave up on yourself and persisted until you found the right T to help you make the discoveries and links that you needed to in order to make progress for yourself. Kudos to you!
Keep reading and posting, as sharing your story can also help other members here. I'd love to hear more about how you arrived at this point, as I'm sure others would. Keep up the great work!
