Hey everyone!
Im a 16 year old and Ive thought for about 7 months that my mother has BPD. My therapist told me about it and everything I talked to her about BPD and everything that I found online was just like my mom. Earlier in the year I found out my entire family was codependent. Every since then I gave up, I knew my role in the manipulation and I said to ___ with this and I got mad I stopped caring, I noticed how little my family cared about me. Its now been a while since these discoveries but I am just so done with this joke of a family. My sister just moved to college across the country and she's the best out of them. I have friends but none of them really know what I'm dealing with. My sister used to be the problem child that my mom was constantly the victim of but since my sisters gone my mom has turned to idolizing her and trying to pick everything thats wrong with me. Im really a great child she's doing her best to find everything possible that she can thats wrong with me, the fact that I spent too much money on vegetables, my sexuality (Im gay), My makeup, that I don't walk my dogs, my tone when its fine. I feel like I have to be so fake all the time because I do. Every time my mom sees me she asks if Im ok like she cares about my feelings or something.   I really hope that I find a community here that can relate even a little bit.

Hi tdog

I am very sorry you are going through this. Your mother sounds like quite a difficult person to be around. I do think it's great that you have the support of a therapist as you deal with all of this. Having a solid support network can really be invaluable.

I also think it's great that you've taken this step to reach out here for more support. Unfortunately, this site does require the members to be at least 18 years old. There are also other resources though that can be helpful to you, I've listed some:

Teen Help

Your Life Your Voice
1-800-448-3000

Dealing with a BPD mother can be very challenging indeed. When it comes to BPD, knowledge truly is power though in my experience. Now that you likely know what you are dealing with, you can educate yourself about the disorder and the strategies to effectively deal with your mother.

Take care and know that once you turn 18, this site will be here for you to get more support
