What are you doing for your physical health?

We spend most of our time on here discussing mental health, and rightfully so. I’m a firm believer in the saying that “a healthy body = a healthy mind”. I’m just curious what others have been doing to improve their physical health since the relationship has ended. I really neglected my physical health during my last two relationships. On top of that, the stress and everything else that comes with the territory just compounded everything and I was feeling quite ill. I was back on track with my physical health in the year in between and leading up to meeting my current ex and Son’s mother, but you know what these relationships can do. Anyway, I’ve been on a diet that includes a lot of raw fruit and veggies and low fat proteins. I’m going to start back on green smoothies again as well. I drink a ton of water everyday and have lost 13 lbs. so far without exercise. I will be getting back into the gym to bulk up and then lean out as well as putting myself on a cardio regiment. My employer has a very nice workout facility right here in the building. I worked out religiously during my 20’s and can remember how good I felt and how strong I was. On top of that, I’m currently taking Sam-E, St. John’s Wort, a multivitamin, fish oil, magnesium, super B complex and melatonin to help me sleep. I’ve also started drinking wheat grass, however I made the mistake of buying wheatgrass powder instead of wheatgrass JUICE powder. What’s been working for you?

I run a lot, but I have an injury now so I can't run. I still row though and I also road cycle when the whether is okay. As far as diet goes I just eat what I want and when I want. Healthy meals and a little less healthy snacks, but I guess does are good for my soul haha.

What he had when he had it
And I see the permanent damage you did to me
Never again, I just wish I could forget when it was magic

Yoga Meditation eating clean drinking way less and running again and going to the gym. All of which fell way off except for the drinking for the time I was with my peach. I firmly believe of everything I've learned on this journey reconnecting to mental and physical health has been the greatest gift.

Aiko, I can’t wait to be there again! I remember how much more confidence I had just by being healthy.

Don't wait start today. One foot in front of the other day at a time will turn into weeks then months. Put the train wreck in the rear view. And by no means am I healed and past this, i struggle every day with the memories, but they are less and they are less intense. Focusing on me/you and my/your health I'm convinced is a way to get through this. Feel better means smile more means more confidence. Good luck keep moving forward.

once removed, yes, the Sam-E and melatonin help a lot. I’m hoping to stay away from any prescription drugs. They scare me. At the end of my dad’s life he was taking 44 pills a day! All prescribed. My sister and I both believe that these made his behavior even more psychotic and ultimately helped him die early. No offense to anyone who is taking prescriptions. I may end up taking prescribed meds myself, but I’d like to avoid them if I’m able.

I do about anything to stay active but mainly hike the mountains in my backyard. It not only gets the heart pounding and lungs clear but the feeling of being so small amongst the quiet of nature resets me.
Maybe more important over the last 3 yrs though has been what my T taught me. He is certified in sophrology and has been working on breathing exercises with me, including the 5 Tibetans. I try do the exercises daily with much concentration on my breathing. Sometimes I only have 5-7 min to do them but man has it this exercise been an eye opener for me. I feel great doing it.

Great topic!
Although I am sad about the demise of my marriage, and all that
that
entails, I make a point to take a bath every day, exercise for one hour every day, and to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
I do P90X for exercise. Along with the stretching and strengthening exercises that the program provides, it provides me a whole hour to actually NOT think about my wife leaving me.
I eat primarily a paleo diet... .think: the outer ring of a grocery store, the veggies, meats, and dairy. In other words, I stay away from the aisles. Although everything in a grocery store is
edible
, I would argue that not all of what can be purchased in a grocery store is food. Food is what sustains a healthy life, not break it down.
So... .while my mind can sometimes still be wrapped up in mental anguish, at least I am treating my body with kindness. It helps.
