Jail time is very common for people with BPD

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4825675/

" Three especially notable findings were the high rate of BPD among jail inmates, the modest gender difference in BPD among inmates and the modest correlation between symptoms of BPD and psychopathy. Each has implications for correctional staff and a more general understanding of BPD.

The extraordinarily high rate of clinically significant symptoms of BPD in this sample of general population jail inmates detained on felony charges is striking. Compared with community estimates of 1 percent to 2 percent (American Psychiatric Association, 2000; Kraus and Reynolds, 2001) "

Whilst we are talking stats, my dating pool since divorcing my spouse shows a higher BPD prevalence rate than prison at 66% (2 out of 3)

The good news is while I seem to still walk down this road, I do not fall down the hole. I'm working on walking down a different road

If we are talking stats, lets stay with general principles.

The greatest majority of school shooters in the US are by Caucasian's living in rural/suburban areas.  Shooting up schools is not common for Caucasians living in rural/suburban America.

There are 2 million people in US prisons.
Possibly 600 thousand have BPD.
There are 18 million people in US with BPD.
That is 3% of people with clinical BPD (6% if you use the incidence reported in the study).

If we look at our population here, 60-70% are below clinical thresholds... .
That would be 1% of our members partners. (2% if you use the incidence reported in the study).

I don't know about anybody else, but jail is common for my uBPDh. He went to jail at least once a year the whole seven years I have known him. Apparently he went to jail several times a year in his previous marriage. In fact, I'm pretty sure he has been going to jail every year for probably over a decade.

That doesn't even count the six years he spent in prison before that.

Also common for people who are involved with people whom have personality disorders. I spent the night in jail because of a woman who I believe had BPD/NPD.

Apologies Skip i should have said not uncommon,
and due to socio economic and other reasons are undoubtedely way under represented on this board,

the figures above also only look at those in prison currently and not those who have subsequently been released,

As a whole if you randomly picked someone who is clinically BPD it would not be surprising if they had been incarcerated at some point.

That's 16 million. Going through that algorithm, the percentage of board members SOs would go up to 8%.
