My daughter just turned 21, she was diagnoses with BPD about 3 years ago after her 2nd visit to an Eating Disorder institute.  Every so often I think she is making progress, then she takes 3 steps back and I feel we are at the beginning again.

I'm sad, disappointed and frustrated.  Will she ever get better?  When?

Hello Rome2016 and Welcome

I'm so sorry for what has brought you here but I'm really glad you found us. Having a diagnosis is something - a starting point, though as you say, it's frustrating.

Can you tell us a bit more about what's happening right now? It helps to have more information so we know how to best support you.

I want you to know you're not alone...we are all here learning together, supporting each other on our journeys.

Again, Welcome!

Hello Rome2016  Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I join Only Human welcoming you to the forum, I'm also glad you've reached out for support and hope you learn as much as I have here these last 4 years.

My DD (dear daughter) spent a year in outpatient therapy at 18 for her eating disorder (no progress) and was finally diagnosed BPD co-morbid at 26 when she hit crisis, hospitalised for self harm. Today following 14 months outpatient DBT, meds she's doing well, she understands and is able to help herself. I recognise the 3 steps forwards you describe, one back, one back, two forwards... it was like sliding doors for us.

We're here walking alongside you, things can get better.

Hope.
