Peaks and Valleys

I’ve taken some time away from therapy. About the same time I stepped down as an ambassador. I decided to step away from the seriousness of all of this for a while. Take some personal inventory, look at my situation. Where I’ve been and where I am now. It’s been interesting to look at. I’m optimistic.
In one session, my T and I were talking and agreeing how the healing process isn’t linear. She described it as a flow chart. The peaks and valleys. I was thinking about that yesterday and made a project of it. I got a pen and a piece of paper. I didn’t delve back to my beginning here, but I went back a ways. I made a flow chart out of my posts. Peaks and valleys. There’s been quite a few recently. Maybe the hard stuff is finally starting to fizzle out. Kind of like a sparkler. Sometimes they’re most intense before they go out. Please excuse my silly analogies. Just thinking.
Peaks and valleys. Push and pull. Black and white. Value and devalue. It all takes time and a stern and unwavering look inward.

I have used the comparison of a faucet being turned on and off. And I am currently feeling like my well has run dry! Just want a steady flow of whatever normal is.

Thank you for sharing this. The peaks and valleys image (and the faucet image, madeline7), really work for me, and in this moment are making me feel a little bit more at ease about how I am been feeling about both my and my brother's healing processes.

Great analogy,
m7
! I like it and hope that it’s working out for you. I understand what you mean when you say that you feel like your well has run dry. Sounds like you might be in a valley at the moment, but hang in there. We’re here to help you refill your well.
Hi,
RavenWatcher
. I’m glad you found this helpful. How do you feel that it relates to you and your brother’s healing journey? Do you feel optimism, pain, maybe both at times? Thanks for joining the thread.
