A hard day

Hi,

I just need to tell someone. Today's my aniversary, 5 years with my GF. At my age I would have considered marriage long ago, but I haven't had a full month without her taking about a break up.

Yesterday she asked me to not mention it today, not celebrate or give her a present (which I bought weeks ago, and I have it wraped and hidden). She started listing the reasons why she doesn't want to be the GF of anyone, and why she wants to die, and how she's living in my house with her kids just because she has nowhere to go, and she is so sorry about that, and she will do whatever she has to to find another place.

I told her I didn't live in denial thinking we are the perfect couple, and I didn't ask for a romantic dinner or heart-shaped balloons... But it would be kind not to spend the day telling me how awful her life with me is. Because for me it was indeed an important date.

We didn't speak a lot the rest of the day, it wasn't unpleasant either. Today I don't know what to do, I feel sad and alone and defeated.
