Years of being an abuse victim means I have so much emotional pain inside. uBPD sibling and ADHD ex-friend have messed up my life. I'm going to seek anger management after all this world crisis. Have any of you received some sort of anger management class? Let me know how it was.

In speaking to the coordinator of a program to educate families on how to better communicate with BPD members I mentioned my feelings toward my sister. The coordinator suggested I check out DBT, which I at first found mildly insulting. But as I look at the DBT literature, I think she had a valid point. In my experience there is nothing more distressing than dealing with a malignant pwBPD. So it makes sense to learn distress tolerance tools.

I feel sad yet hopeful hearing how you are working on healing from being abused. You are wondering about an anger management class. I too suffer from being abused. In my experience, practicing mindfulness and long term therapy that allows me to access the underlying sadness underneath the anger is what helps me to feel compassion for myself and soften the anger I feel towards my abusers. I did some therapy that involved accessing my anger by hitting pillows, shouting, etc., and I felt some momentarily relief and later was as angry as ever. What have you tried so far that seems to help? What kind of people and activities do you enjoy?
