Therapist?

Hello,
I need to find a therapist who takes insurance and is very knowledgable about BPD. Any tips on how to do that? Are there any online resources? I have been married for 26 years and have three adult children. I do not want a divorce, but I need some help coping. My husband's BPD is getting worse.
Thank you.

We recommend Psychology Today’s website to find a therapist. Best to make sure that someone your are interested in has extensive experience with personality disorders.
There are online therapy companies with accredited professional therapists who have expertise in a variety of areas. I just heard an advertisement for one last night on a podcast.

additionally, you need a strong support system.
do lean on friends, although be careful about how deeply they are drawn in, and how that can hurt the relationship. pick a couple of people you trust; for example, pick one or two that will back you up endlessly, and pick one or two that will challenge your perspective.
apart from that, i know of no better place than here when it comes to resources and building yourself stronger.

Like CF mentioned, Psychology Today is a a good place to start. At the top there is place to choose options, like do want a male or female, what insurance they take and what the therapists specializes in. If you check off BPD, only therapist that have that in their list of treatment come up. Some don’t single out BPD, so check mood disorders. Some have BPD in their list, but it may not be what they specialize in. Further down on the therapists page, they list their therapy approach. If you find someone that you are interested in, you can visit their website and Google their name and see what comes up. If they have any reviews.
Someone who is not familiar with BPD, usually is not going to be helpful. Some therapists have worked with inpatient BPD’s. I don’t think that anyone who hasn’t lived through what life with a BP is like, will ever totally get it. That is why this site is so special.
Good luck!
