I saw my ex the other day in a new car. Today I saw the same, or a very similar car, and a dude was driving it instead and gave me a peace sign, which was really odd.
I may be putting 2 + 2 together and making 5, but I've realized regardless of whether it was her new bf or not, there was value in the message.
I ran through a situation in my mind where I spoke to the guy, and I was thinking of what nice things I could say about my ex.
I sarcastically thought:
- Incredibly dependable
- Highly emotionally intelligent and caring
- Great communicator, especially good at giving advice on sensitive topics
- Lets things roll off her back, goes with the flow
- Stable and consistent, you always know where you stand
- Mature
- A real keeper
- Someone that you'd want raising your children
- A real classy girl
All I thought was "good luck mate". He's probably having the best time of his life right now w/ a strange undercurrent of uncertainty.
I had a second thought which helped too, using the name "Lucy".
- Lucy was Lucy-ing before I moved here.
- Lucy was Lucy-ing when I was with my ex.
- Lucy was Lucy-ing when she told me someone telling her they loved her made her feel sick.
- Lucy was Lucy-ing when I was her favourite person.
- Lucy was Lucy-ing when I no longer meant anything.
- Lucy is Lucy-ing with a new guy.
- Lucy has always been Lucy.
- Lucy will always be Lucy.
