Has your BPD ex tried to be "original", "different" than others?

My ex would constantly remind me that he is always trying to be original and never repeat the same things in r/s with another person. He would never call another person with a nickname that someone else had or he wouldn't do the same surprises for another person as he did before. Obviously, I don't know if this is all true but he wanted me to be "original" with him too.
If I would tell him about old song that I liked he would automatically say "I hope this song doesn't remind you of any of your exes!" Or "I'm sure it reminds you of someone!". If I would take him somewhere to visit he would tell me "I hope you have never been in here with somebody else, I don't want you to take me to such places!"
He would be proud of things that he did first and then his friends were copying from him (like a child). He has had different views than majority ..I do have too, but there are certain things I agree with majority because they just make sense.. with him it seemed like he would change his view to extreme just to look different and original.
Many times he would try to convince me to change my view but when I didn't and we came back to the same conversation few days or weeks later, suddenly he was repeating what I have said before and claiming he has the same view as me! (Sometimes I was so confused I wasn't sure if I missed something or I didn't understand him properly the first time we talked about it).
What is your experience with that?

My ex with quiet BPD had this air of wanting to be original to the core. Everything had to have an original spin to it. She had to listen to unpopular music or make a show out of it even though she listened to a ton of pop stuff for most of the time. One time she even admitted it to me. "I tell everybody I'm so punk and listen to these obscure bands and then you go on my Spotify and it's mostly Lady Gaga."
