So after years of ineffective therapy, I have finally found someone who is helping me work through my childhood trauma.  I recently started EMDR, which I think will be very helpful in the long run.  Lately my therapist has been talking about healing before my health is affected by chronic stress.

Fast forward a few months and my doctor has told me i have high blood pressure and my heart is enlarged.  She said one possible culprit is the HRT I am on for anxiety and the effexor for depression.  All my googling has revealed that there is actually a direct link between chronic stress and all these conditions.  Yet another way that my mother has affected my life negatively.   I feel really discouraged by the fact that I have to take meds to stay sane and those meds are making me sick and my own body is making me sick.  I talked to my mother about my health and she said "I hope you don't drop dead, hahaha"

I was feeling so hopeful since starting some really good work with my therapist, but now I feel defeated.

Perhaps you might want to talk to your doctor about changing your medications that do not have these particular side effects?  Just a suggestion as sometimes this is temporary to a specific medicine/treatment/condition.

Sorry to hear you're feeling this way, but what's the difference between taking vitamin pills or med pills ? No shame, possibly there are other meds that might fit ?
