I have been married for 22 years, my wife has BPD and it has been a rollercoaster. We are separated and right now she has everything she needs and is able to flip the "indifference switch" in her head. We almost divorced 2 years ago, she filed a bogus protective order against me (again)( the judge threatened to charge her with contempt if it ever happened again but granted the order) then left the house doors open to run off with my friend. Everything turned around in court, I got the house, custody, everything, she was living in her car. I violated the ex parte and gave her the keys to the rent house, got her clothes, food, etc
Next thing I know she flipped the indifference switch off and she's back in our house. I don't know how to break this cycle. I can't let her end up on the street, but I don't want to be emotionally invested to someone who can't be in me.
Help.

Hi closeracing,
Wow. I'm sorry you went through all of this.
What happened that she came back? Does she have family members that can help?
Do you have kids?

We had been back together for two years after that
4 or 5 months ago I was diagnosed with major depression and I self medicated. I told my wife and she flipped out in front of the kids so I left. I stayed in a
Motel for a week but talked to my wife several times a day. One night she called every hour until 6 am, I took every call. She was distraught, crying, wanting to work things out etc.
Later that day she flipped the switch and was completely emotionally detached, which was followed by a psychotic break.
She thought I poisoned the house and her car to kill her, the police were at our house daily checking for chemicals etc. she had several ambulance rides to the E.R to be checked for exposure, all tox screens were negative.
She ended up in a motel, I had given her my last paycheck and she emptied my checking if all $2700.
She believes friends she said she said picked her up from the E.r stole the money and were planning on kidnapping and/or killing her. She claims to have found a back pack in their closet with a gun, duct tape, nylon rope and rubber gloves.
She also claims she heard the boyfriend talking to the hospital claiming she was threatening to shoot herself. She fled the house running through the woods and finally got a ride to a shelter where she has been ever since
