VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

I just got home from the nightshift and there was the message on my FB.

"Hey! I like you for all the good things we still had. I'm glad to see how well you seem to be doing. Hugs"

I have a new account and this was her first contact attempt since August. I'm in a new relationship and although still battered from my experience with my ex life is OK. I want nothing to do with her.

I didn't reply and I've now blocked her. I had to go to her page and I was dreading a big photo of her and the replacement on the cover. I half feared the message might be a plot to try to suck me into mind games like that. Thankfully there was nothing but her usual picture plus a new cover with some nonsense off a feminist pamphlet. Blocking took no time. I'm rattled and won't sleep today but it's OK. I've been much worse before. Job done!

Good move man. You never want to engage in any communication,  it seems to egg them on.

Thank you. I'm with a healthy woman who has control over her life, I have my friends, I have my job, my house and my creativity. My life is OK and she's not welcome in it anymore. Whatever she wants and whatever she's up to I want no part of it.

I remain on the path of silence and indifference.

You'll be very thankful you immediately blocked her.  Keep your boundaries and continue on your path of indifference to freedom.  It should tell you something that even this small " return" of your ex rattled you so.  Settle your mind on the calm that NC and detachment has provided.  The healing.  And sleep like a baby.
