I dreamt of my ex recently and it was strange. In the dream I was asking her if she was seeing anyone. Then I asked if I could come back. I remember feeling shocked at the second question. It was like I was watching a film. When I woke up later I was confused at first and then angry. I thought "HELL NO" I don't want to go back. Perhaps there is a disconnect between how I feel about the situation and what I know about the situation somewhere.

I like to pay attention to how I feel when I wake up from a dream. It seems like your initial reaction of confusion and anger is important to realize. That's the part I would focus on as opposed to what the dream means.
