VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

Has this happened to anyone else. We started dating in high school and broke up after 3 months of dating. I was 16 and he was 17. He recycled me 5 months later saying I was his first love and couldn't get over me. We got back together and that lasted 16 months. He went into the marine Coro during this last period and made me swear I would stick by him. He even said he wanted to marry me this past January, by February I felt him pulling away from me. By the end of March he broke up with me and nc for 2 weeks when I wouldn't answer him he found other ways to get to me. I started hearing he had pictures on his instagram of a new girl in may. End of may he contacted me again to say he has never loved anyone like he loves me that this new girl is just a good listener and that he wants us to get back together. I told him I wasn't buying it he got mad and called me immature. I found out July 13th he is now engaged to that new girl who is also a marine. Btw he was diagnosed at 18 with s personality disorder. At the time I didn't know what that was. My question is has anyone else have an ex get engaged and married so soon and are they still married?  I still love my ex

Sadly this behaviour doesn't surprise me, and yes it's painful to hear that someone you loved and cared for has moved on in this way

BPD's always have major attachment issues and need people in their lives. They will make you feel like your the one and only when that isn't the case. They struggle with abandonment

I was in a relationship for 12 months with my ex BPD gf and she spun the story that I was the best thing that happened to her, yet she had 4 relationships in the time we were together. I remember her showing me a text message from an ex that had gotten in contact with her, she showed me the message and clearly forgot that in my job I'm excellent as scan reading messages, and even though she only showed me the message for no longer than 3 seconds, I saw that she'd replied to him using the same words she used to send me.

My relationship clearly meant nothing to her when I thought it did and she told me it did

Sadly your ex's relationship wont work out as they tend not to in such cases

Wish you all the best in moving forward

Hi Lovesjesus.

Sorry for the experience that you have had that brings you here.  Please make use of support from staff, members & information made available for everybody to  read here.

My exgf BPD ended our relationship of 6 years & within 24 hours of that announcement informed me she had met somebody else.

Best wishes.
