Hello, I am very pleased to find this board!  My daughter has BPD according to her therapist (this one is the 4th I think to say so so I guess it's correct.)  Her father, my former husband, was diagnosed at various times with BPD, NPD and APD.  He has been out of our lives for many years.  She is currently a teen and in addition to the BPD has the usual teenage hormones and growing pains.  She is aware of her issues and frequently uses them to excuse her behavior at the same time she does not give anyone any sort of allowance or thought.

Hello Sbc01sbc... .and welcome!

Yes, finding this board was uplifting for me, too.   While my daughter has not been officially diagnosed as having BPD... .the check marks are there.   Sure can make life difficult!

As I have written before on this forum, there are no quick answers to any of our problems.  What I have found comfort in, though, is knowing others share some aspects of mine.

Again and again the message comes across that we, as parents, have to make sure to look after ourselves.  As on a plane when the oxygen masks drop... .you are instructed to put yours on first... .then tend to others.  Perfect analogy for us!  Learn to look after yourself.

Hope to hear more from you, Sbc01sbc.   It really has helped me to share... .then reach out and support others.  Hope you find this, too.
