Since Oct. Her behavior is escalating. 2 weeks ago sent her to the hospital in the back of a police car after physically restraining her because she kneed herself in the nose and broke it then said she'd tell the police one of her parents did it. Went to the ER the following day because she was hysterical over her break up with her boyfriend. She is verbally abusive to me especially. And I had packed her clothes and pillow and headed to the crisis center Fri. Then she stated she would attend her counseling session. I'm at the end of the rope. Laid some ground rules. We'll see. I'm frustrated and incredibly hurt, because I let what she says get to me. She has biblically embarrassed her father with incredibly inappropriate and profane language.

Hi there, I understand. I have a 24 year old daughter that suffers with BPD. It is so hard to deal with and set boundaries. My daughter has also been violent and attacked me and others many times. I am currently learning to set boundaries and then be ok with them when I do. I tend to withdraw when I am hurt and have told her that. My daughter does not live with me. She is in her own space and that is the only way it works for us as I wont be abused. I feel guilty at times for not allowing her in my home anymore, but have a great psychologist that is helping me immensely. If you are not already seeing one, please talk to someone who can help you set boundaries.

We're all human and it can be difficult at times to not let it get to us even people with thick skin have a problem with the words getting through. I suggest to read as much as you can about the disorder once that you understand why your D acts the ways that she does then you'll realize that it's not personal, you can also work on becoming indifferent with the behaviour you neither like it or hate it. Does she have any siblings?

Tiss, welcome to this board. As a mother of a daughter (35) with BPD I'm sorry you had to find us. On the other hand I'm so glad you're here. What a frightening incident with her harming herself. Your emotions have got to be raw. A mothers heart is one of the most tender things in the world, we take everything, and give all of ourselves. Experiencing the kind of hurt that comes from our children can be devastating. Sometimes as mothers we need to step back, breath and reach out for help. That's what you've done by posting here. When your ready, if you want to, share more of how you're feeling. You will find support here.
