The card said "Happy Groundhog Day"

Yesterday, h came over to the house and left a card for me. On the envelope, he said "happy Groundhog Day". Inside, he said that he was confused and felt misunderstood in our last interaction (via text) and can't figure out how to be in relationship without hurting me. He wanted to have me in his life and to "try again".
Back in the early '90s, "Groundhog Day" was a movie that we saw together about a meteorologist who was stuck in a time loop, replaying the same day over and over. When I read the envelope, I made the connection and thought it was probably a recycle attempt. I smiled... .
The way out of the time loop was to do something different.
I don't think I'm going to respond to the card.

Hi empath,
It’s a Bill Murray movie is he saying that he’s stuck in a loop and can’t change how he treats you? I can see how it’s a recycle attempt but like you said nothing changes without change. He wants you to take him back without changing. Hmm good idea with not responding to it.

Hi Mutt,
Yes, Bill Murray... . I don't think he made the connection with the movie; that was something that popped in my mind when I saw the card.
