My son is going to court today on one of 2 felony charges ( drug trafficking.) I am still in a rehab facility overcoming my stroke but my husband will be with him. I have all sorts of feelings about where this journey has led such as sadness , anger my son and the criminal justice system that does nothing for neurodivergent people or anyone for that matter Strangely I also feel optimistic about the future I think this may be finally the low point from which my son slowly but surely comes back even if it has to happen in prison this BPD journey is tough but like I always say There's Hope wherever there's life There's Hope

Faith,
Legal issues cause so much stress for us-the support system. I believe we view these things with a much wider lens than is even possible for these young adults. You have come along way in your radical acceptance of a crappy situation. I can see why you have both fears and hope (isn’t that Linehan’s whole theory? That we can / do have opposite feelings going on at the same time. Most days I feel terrified and tremendously brave At the same time.

Hang in there friend. Sending you a ((Hug)

I have no words.. you and Peacemom summed it up    It is at the point where the process will have to play itself out with your son and that is nerve wracking.  Keep on going, Faith.  I am glad you are continuing to improve in recovering from your stroke.

Faith

I'm sorry to learn of your illness but glad to hear that you're recovering well. These "happenings" or "shifts" bring about change and, whilst scary, they certainly do provide hope for something better.

Thinking about you and your son today.

How did things go with your son yesterday, FHL?

I am heartened to hear that you feel optimistic. When I feel that way about my son (on the spectrum, neurodiverse) I hang onto it, hoping that hope is contagious, that he can feel it, that things will improve for him.

Hey Faith,
Ive been down a smallish grey hole.
I came to see how you are doing?

What happened at court?
I do hope despite it all that you continue to improve xx

Nothing has happened in court so far other than delays. Meanwhile my son keeps refusing treatment and is likely on his way to prison. My hope is that the court will mandate treatment
