Hi everyone.   I participated in this forum last year when I suspected that my wife had BPD because the most obvious and disruptive symptom was extreme emotional dysregulation - major meltdowns, screaming, throwing things, destroying loved possessions, self-harm, cruel speech, etc.  As we explored BPD more we came across other diagnoses which involved emotional dysregulation, such as ADHD and Autism (e.g. https://neurodivergentinsights.com/misdiagnosis-monday/borderline-personality-disorder-adhd-and-autism).  My wife recently completed an evaluation and was diagnosed with ADHD.

I just wanted to share this for people who may be in a similar situation and hadn't considered that it may not be BPD but something else, and also to take a moment to say thank you to everyone here - I found it to be a very supportive community when I was in need, regardless of the exact problem I was struggling with!

Good advice- Complex PTSD also has similar symptoms.  The diagnosis is important when it comes to treatment, but for us talking about it here it's not anywhere near as critical since we talk out healthy boundaries and self care plus different communication techniques.  That stuff applies to every relationship in some level.

I hope things are working out for the better in your relationship!
