Beware of Junk Psychology... Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's true. Not all blogs and online "life coaches" are reliable, accurate, or healthy for you. Remember, there is no oversight, no competency testing, no registration, and no accountability for many sites - it is up to you to qualify the resource. Some of these quotes could have been said by my husband - the view that it's him against the world and the quote about not fearing death... .

Does anyone else see PD at work here?

Oops sorry. That's ambiguous. What I mean is that if Dorner's awful paranoid/revernge mindset and horrendous crimes (assuming he did them) could come from a non-PD, 'normal' person I'd be very surprised (and distressed, about the future of our civilization). But I don't think so. I think you're probably right.

My ex was fascinated by, and terrified of, death.

BPD (w/NPD traits)?  Really, my husband has said similar things.  He has never fought or been prone to violence but he has certainly said some extremely ghastly things.  When angry at a boss who he felt wronged by, he once said he wanted to take a 2x4, fill it with nails, and go beat the boss to a bloody pulp.  Among other things, he has also mentioned wanting to slice someone's throat, etc. who angered him.  He talks like that when raging.   Like I said, CHILLING.  It must be a true living hell to believe that the world is out to get you, and this is how I think my h views much of the world.

PP - You didn't have to clarify.  I found your response to be hilarious and was reminded that we MUST keep our senses of humor.  If you don't laugh, you'll cry!   Smiling (click to insert in post)

Yeah, but remember these threads are sometimes read by hundreds of people, maybe including BPD-lurkers. With the BPDers that I've been involved with, if there's any way to interpret something that I've written as negative, frightening, critical, or aggressive (in other words, to trigger themselves), they'll find it.  Do I want that on my conscience as well as everything else?    my baggage Smiling (click to insert in post)
