Small achievements this week

- moved into a new place by myself

- re engaged with therapy

- went to specialist running place to get my running gait tested to sort out my Achilles problems so I can get myself fit again

- went to a meetup group today

Goals for this week

- exercise every day

-NC

- get head focused on work

- sort out some long overdue paperwork

- plan some social events for next week

- work up outline for book I want to write

- spend 20 mins each morning and night practising mindfulness.

Anyone else got goals for the week they want to share?

Your "Small" achievements are really big ones! Remember to take it easy on yourself. For me it seems that your week plan is pretty hefty. I don't know where you are in your healing process, and how used you are to meditation. For me 10 min of meditation is a really long time and what I can manage every day. I suggest you spread out your goals of the week a bit more so you have the energy to actually do it. The good thing about achieving is to succeed. And taking tiny baby steps ensure that you stay on a success streak. And never ever berate yourself if you fail to meet your goals. Just reassess the timeline and pick yourself up, don't stop anything, keep succeeding in small steps! Every time you do something, anything, wallow in pride and compliment yourself, "high five" yourself Smiling (click to insert in post) It will feel odd in the beginning, but just "fake it", it will feel really good after a while. When you look at your achievements through the lens of your former self who had no problems doing those things in the past, remember that you are in a different situation now, and the greater the challenge of doing the small things the achievement is equally as big as the challenge. Its not so much WHAT you do as much as THAT you do it.

I just wanted to comment through my experience with getting things done. I don't know your situation, but for me your goals of the week would be too much for myself.

I have been helped by learning about "kaizen". Here are some articles:

Thanks ME.

I have a lot of time to myself now so am sure I can achieve this his week.

I have a very short commute now (10 min walk) and have a gym in my building so no excuse there

Better than ruminating which has filled most of my time.

Happier days ahead

Ha... .  your weekly goals would be really great for me to adopt!  Have you heard of SMART?  It's an acronym for a way of working to achieve goals:  Small, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound.  So instead of saying something nebulous ("I want to feel good,"  you define what you want your goal to look like ("I want to lose 30 lbs" and start thinking SMART (I will eat six small meals a day and exercise four times this coming week."  You can continue to refine; say take the first and say "I will plan my meals and shop accordingly, and each night I will prep the coming day's meals."

Thanks for posting this, you're inspiring.  I had a bad night last night--called my mom to talk about losing the cat and losing Dad and could tell by her voice she was drinking again... .  I thought she had quit except for a single glass of wine last night.  Her drinking was what made me grow up thinking I was worthless and creating codependency, so I got REALLY rattled.  Focusing on goals and reminding myself of SMART today can help pull me back out. What you wrote down there is exactly what I want and try to do on a daily basis.

Especially long overdue paperwork gives a satisfactory feeling in the end of the day. It's all about that little sense of satisfaction in the end of the day Smiling (click to insert in post)
