Got laid off today and how BPD fits in

Hey everyone... .I just needed to vent a little bit here today.

I had what I thought was the perfect job that I had started last summer after having a series of crap jobs that I was forced to take because of the poor economy of the course of the last several years. It was great pay and working conditions and I was finally able to live my future again after it being placed on hold for many years. I now have to put it on hold again as my company was purchased by a larger organization and laid off a number of workers inducing the last ones in, me among those that were let go today. 

Although I am just about out of the emotional woods as it relates to our r/s and our breakup, I can't help but to reflect upon the experience in the same terms that I do my loss of job. Its incredible that the two things that I most covet and yearn for in life (and others seem to take for granted) are things that are being given to me for ever so briefly, and then ripped away abruptly. Almost in a way where I feel that fate is teasing me, "Here it is, taste it and smell it. Let me rip it away - none for you'!

I really don't intend to host a pity party for myself but its really difficult to not let my mind wander in this direction. I'm 48 years old and I have been chasing these two elusive things since I finished college. I am no closer to them that I was 25 years ago. Sigh... .

Sorry to hear JRT!

The loss of a job is grieving too. Maybe not so intense, but when you really liked it, hoped for and saw a future in that company, yes the loss has it weight.

Fate… seems so. Same here. Out of 30+yrs, lost D in the process too (I am death to her), several yrs. older than you, no way to rebuild funds for my retirement in a 10 yrs. and… laid off too. 

   Yes, ‘feeling’ 25 yrs. old again… but not really JRT.

I can empathize with you about your situation, JRT. I was was building up my own business in the last two years. Some weeks before my uBPDex dumped me I lost my most important client (I think he got involved with a Cluster-B-Client, a very high conflict histrionic woman, the CEO of a big company in his town. He was warned, not to work with her. But he thought, he could handle it.) There I was: I lost my "job", my girlfriend, her children, my home, my workroom. All my uBPDex said about it, was: "I know, the timing is not right. But it is, as it is."

I'm sorry to heart that JRT.

Losing a job can be similar to the loss of a relationship -  ultimate rejection.

One door closes. Another one opens.

Same here JRT... .Lost what I fantasized to be the "love of my life", lost my job cause all the drama abd stress influenced my work. They didnt want to renew my contract. My Boss is a total dick, didnt pay the bonusses stated in my contract and now I am in a court case against them. Unemployment sucks... . 

But... .New opportunities will arise. I can now fully focus on me, figure out what truly makes ME happy and pursue that whole heartedly... Doors close... .Other opens... .

Hang in there JRT, sorry you have to go through this... .

JRT I'm feeling for you bro I hope and pray this leads to something much better for you i hope fate/God  has something so wonderful in store that you will be glad this job came to an end .  Just because your 48 does not mean its not your turn sometimes some of us have to wait a little longer for what we want I'm 37 and relate totally

Dude, 48 is NOTHING. You got experience, life and otherwise, over kids coming out of college. You will be fine. Sucks about the job, but whatever you do, do not settle for a job 5 levels below where you should be. It is pretty damn impossible to work yourself up the ladder these days. I've done that once, never again!

Thanks guys... .the phone has been ringing all day with job related activity, I am optimistic that I will not be out of work for too long. I sell for a living and I actually hit my quota for the year (not easy to do) and was likely going on an incentive trip to Aruba with my team. Since they chose who would be laid off strictly on the basis of seniority, there were three people who performed worse than me that kept their job, go figure.

Like my r/s; I did all of the right things, some of them not at all easy, but still got zapped in the end! I feel like Ziggy!
