Guys, what?  Yesterday, after a week and a half of the silent treatment, he texts me out of the blue to see how I am.  He makes little references to inside jokes that only we understood.  It was polite and pleasant.  Then, this morning, his mother sends me a photo of us together, telling me how much she enjoyed having me around all summer (he lives with his parents).  I've not heard from the woman since he and I split a month ago.  Why would someone send me a photo of me and the person who broke my heart?  I'm thinking I'm experiencing something akin to "triangulation"?  I'm confused.  Thoughts?  Speculations?  I know this is kind of a random post, and I apologize.  But it's really putting me on a bad trip!  She would always tell me -- the entire family would always tell me -- that he was suicidal before I came, and that they've seen such positive changes in him since I arrived on the scene.  I'm guessing he's now not doing so well?  Or he's trying to get people to get me to come back?

Hi Creativum,

Maybe having you in the picture took some of the preasure off his mom/parents.  My guess is that he might not be doing well either sounds like they are both trying to engage you and pull you back in.  It's up to you whether or not you do.

Hi Creativum,

I'd like to share some advice with you. I think what's really important and that we may not realize ( I catch myself doing this too ) is that we don't have to assign a pathology to every gesture our ex partners and their family do.

It sounds like his mom is fond of you.

So, his mother saw the difference in her son but she may not be self aware or aware enough that her son has a dependency on others, we can only help ourselves if we're ready to receive help.
