My SO was just recently diagnosed with BPD but things have been stressful for the last few years.

Having a dx. helps but sure doesn't changed a lot of things.  I am reading Walking on Eggshells now and it has lead me here.

Thanks for being here.

Hi TwistsnTurns,

Welcome

I’d like to welcome you to bpdfamily, I can see how a do doesn’t help with giving the adequate tools for substantial change in a r/a with a pwBPD. It helps to talk to others that can relate with you to give you guidance and support. Can you give us a back story? What’s been going on in the last few years?

Hi TwistsnTurns, joining Mutt in welcoming you here.

Reading Eggshells is a great first step, wish I had gotten to it earlier. Yes having the dx helps to start make sense of things but it sure doesn't cure the problem.

May I what led to your SO getting the dx and how they responded to it? Has the doctor suggested any followup treatment yet?

All the best,
~ROE

 Welcome, TwistsnTurns:

I'm sorry for what you're going through but glad you have found a community where many of us have been through similar experiences, and we can learn from each other.

I am reading Stop Walking on Eggshells, too, and find that it helps to know that this disorder has been studied extensively and that there are definitive patterns of behavior written in black and white for me to study that I have been scratchin' my head about for over a decade. The very traits, actions, and thought processes written in that book that describe BPD behavior, I have experienced first-hand. But enough about me... .

Please tell us more when you feel comfortable doing so, and let us know what kind of help and support you hope to get here.

I am glad you found us. I am sorry you are enduring this. No a diagnosis isn't a cure but at least it puts you on the right path. I hope you are feeling a little better.
