My son’s wife has multiple issues. She has caused issues with my son and my relationship in past. Much more to this story. This last issue(to make a long story short) she will not allow me to see my grandkids, my son supports everything she says. I started seeing a counselor so I can learn how to deal with her. My counselor suggested reading, ‘Stop Walking On Eggshells-Taking your life back when someone you care about has borderline personality disorder’. This book describes her almost to a ‘T’. My son needs to read it, but there is no way I could ever suggest it to him. I have been struggling with anger and depression over not seeing grandkids. After weeks on end, I am now allowed to see them for one hour, once a week if I am lucky. For 2 1\2 years, I have been in my grandkids lives 1-3 times a week for hours. They need me. More to this story. I am living a nightmare.

What do you think changed that you are now allowed to see then if even for a little while?

It's sad that your son went along with this, but he may be struggling to keep his family together. When and how did this all start?

I read SWOE, The Essential Family Guide is said to be better:

Hi, Saleha59. I'm glad you found your way here and am so sorry you're feeling angry and depressed. That's understandable you would be missing your grandchildren and wanting more time with them. You're not alone in what you're going through. I'd like to point you to this thread with others an in-law has BPD:BPD in-laws: Experiences and coping strategies

It's good that you have found some professional support for yourself as well and are starting to make some sense of your DIL's behavior. How has it been this week? We hope to hear more from you.
