The problem here is that there is no option to really die the hero, nobody will see you that way, especially not the person with BPD that is killing you.

Well assuming you leave decisively during the idealization phase I think its possible to "die a hero" (that is with your sense of self still fully intact and your partener still "wanting you". I had a chance to do this and DID because I felt she wasnt right for me and was moving to another state/graduating college. I fought her for many months against her opining that i was "the one". Somewhere along the line i let myself slip back to her and it ended in disaster. BUT i could have "died" the hero had i just LEFT before the devaluation!
